FLR Director Eleanor Snyder To Retire

After 27 years of working in the area of Christian education, Eleanor Snyder will retire this summer from her position as Director of Faith and Life Resources at Mennonite Publishing Network (MPN).

Snyder, who has worked for MPN since 2003, has also been Director of Children's Education for the General Conference Mennonite Church (1994-2002), a Minister of Christian Education for Mennonite Church, Eastern Canada (1988-94), and manager of the Ontario Mennonite Resource Centre (1980-86).

During her career she helped develop three Sunday school curricula (Foundation Series, Jubilee and Gather 'Round), a number of vacation Bible school curricula and also the hymnal supplements Sing the Story and Sing the Journey. She also led workshops for Christian educators, provided leadership for family-based ministry initiatives and worked with volunteers to promote resources in area conferences in Canada and the U.S.

“Eleanor brought a wealth of experience in Christian education and curriculum development to her work at MPN,” says MPN Executive Director Ron Rempel. “She has provided creative leadership with curriculum, periodicals and other resources for congregational life, and her collaborative leadership style is much appreciated by her colleagues. She will be missed.”

Snyder plans to finish her time with MPN in July.
