MennoMedia adds four staff
Completed roster numbers 29
The two organizations that are merging into MennoMedia on July 1 have added four new staff. This brings the total to 29.
The majority of the staff will be located in Harrisonburg, Va., in the building on Virginia Avenue that housed Third Way Media and its predecessors for nearly 40 years. Six of the staff are moving from Scottdale, Pa.—home of Mennonite Publishing Network and its predecessor for over 100 years.
The General Board of Mennonite Church Canada approved the merger of MPN and Third Way Media last November and the Executive Board of Mennonite Church USA gave final approval in January.
Five MPN staff in Newton, Kan.—former home of Faith & Life Press of the General Conference Mennonite Church—are continuing with MennoMedia. Three MPN staff members in Canada are continuing—one in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and two at the office and warehouse in Waterloo, Ontario. One person is working out of the Mennonite Church USA offices in Elkhart, Ind. Two are working from their homes in Ohio.
In addition to the 29 staff are the part-time editors of four MennoMedia periodicals—Purpose, Rejoice!, Leader, and Adult Bible Study Guide. The four editors work out of their homes in Manitoba, Michigan, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.
MennoMedia will serve both Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada.
All warehousing and shipping for MennoMedia is being transferred to Harrisonburg from Scottdale in early June.
Russ Eanes will be the executive director when MennoMedia gets underway on July 1. He is currently MPN's director of finance and operations. MPN's executive director for the past eight years, Ron Rempel, is retiring. Third Way Media's current co-directors, Lowell Hertzler and Sheri Hartzler, are taking new leadership positions with MennoMedia.
The four new staff members are:
- Jerilyn Schrock, administrative assistant to the executive director. Previously she worked in a family business—Ruth's Books & Cards—in nearby Bridgewater.
- David Rohrer, marketing and sales manager for books and other products. He was the creative services producer at WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg.
- Michael Spory, marketing and sales associate. He graduated from Eastern Mennonite University this spring, majoring in art and photography and minoring in communications.
- Evan McCarthy, assistant in inventory, shipping, and accounts. He also continues as a senior at EMU, where he is majoring in international business.
